Cathedral of St. Peters

Church Events

    Donation of the Month Club:

Each month, the Cathedral of St. Peter's is asking its Members and visitors to donate a specific item.  These items will be donated to local charities.  Keep in mind that just because the holidays are done, that doesn't mean that people in our community don't need our help anymore!  Please help continue to make a difference for those less fortunate.

May's monthly donation item is Bars of Soap.  This months donations will go to Cornucopia.

We collected 132 pairs of flip flops this last month!  Thank you so much for your donation, it is truly appreciated.

Church Improvements:

On Sunday, May 28th at 6:00 p.m. we will be moving pews from the right side of the church to the left side.  If you are able to help please bring a cordless drill, 7/16 inch flexible extension and/or a wrench with a 7/16 inch box head and a Phillips and Flat head screw driver.

If you are interested in helping, please contact the parish office at 815-965-2765.

  Spring Clean-Up:

Once again it is time to do our part in helping beautify our parish neighborhood by tending our parish flower gardens.  Families or individuals are encouraged to sign up for a particular "plot" of our overall landscape.  Several gardeners are reupping for this year's plots, but many more are needed.  Each family or individual can work whenever it is a good time for them and gardening tips can be given if you feel you might need them.  We are planning on cleaning up on Saturday June 3, 2017 at 8 a.m.  Please bring any non-electric tools you can to help.

The parish will provide dark brown mulch if we have volunteers to spread it, but there is lots of cleaning up to do before we get to that point.  Young or Old...all are welcome to participate.  If you have specific questions you are welcome to call current garden coordinator Kathee Thumm at 815-399-2959.

Don’t forgot after Sunday’s 9:00 mass to swing by fellowship hall for coffee and donuts as well as script.  What is "Script" you might ask?  The process is easy:  Gift Certificates are bought from local and national retailers at a discount.  They are then sold to you for full face value.   You use the Gift Certificates as you would cash.  The profits are then split between you (tuition) and St. Peters School.  Don’t have a child in St. Peter’s school that’s ok, you can select from 5 different options.  You can hold for future tuition, Give your credit to another family (grandchild...), Assist A Student Fund, Classroom enhancements (all profits goes directly to St. Peters School, or Cathedral of St. Peters Parish.  It doesn’t cost you anything, you are just using gift cards to pay for things you would already be paying for.  Just fill out this form http://www.cathedralofstpeter.org/files/files/script%20registration.docx.What an easy way to help the school and its students.
