"And Upon This Rock I Will Build My Church" - Jesus
The Society of St. Vincent DePaul describes itself as "a network of friends, inspired by the Gospel, growing in holiness and building a more just world through personal relationships with and service to people in need." We are well aware of Jesus' constant emphasis on how we are feeding, comforting, and assisting Him when we are doing these things for the least of the brothers and sisters.
The Society was founded by Blessed Frederic Ozanam, who was inspired by the great work and legacy of St. Vincent de Paul. It is an organization of women and men who join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering. Their works of charity are nurtured by prayer, reflection, mutually supportive gatherings, and adherence to the rule of society. The Vincentians, as the members of the society, are called, strive to see in those they serve the face of Christ.
Presently, four parishes in our immediate area have active chapters of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. As you can imagine, the need in our area is great. We would like to form our own St. Peter Cathedral Chapter to collaborate with the other chapters in the area in ministering to the needy and growing in personal holiness through acts of charity.
The meetings will be on the 2nd Tuesday at 6:30 P.M. in Fellowship Hall and the 4th Sunday of every month at 8:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. All are welcome to attend! Please join us!
